Golly!

Yesterday in my Jazzercise class we were bouncing around to a remixed Rick Springfield hit, when our fantastic instructor started to yell out trivia questions. Fun I say!
"What was his character's name on General Hospital?"
"Noah Drake!!" I said, "He's recently returned with a son and a alcohol problem."
She threw out another trivia question, "What was his big hit in the 80's?"
Come on! "Jesse's Girl!" I answered.
Everyone was impressed, especially considering I was like 6 or 7 when that was all going on, but I've done a lot of catching up. And to boot, it's harder to answer trivia when you're jumping and skipping and lifting those knees.
Sigh. I'm such a winner.

I guess I better speak on Britney as well.

First a little on my history with ole Brit. I remember this first time I saw/heard Britney Spears, I was at my friend Melissa Norton's house during TRL and Hit Me Baby One More Time came on (1999 - the year of pop). I exclaimed, "who is that?!?" And I've been a fan ever since.
Considering I could mock her voice and sound better than her when she was really trying, I knew she wasn't the best singer of all the blondes out there. But she was the best entertainer - hands down. She makes me want to dance more than anyone out there, her tunes make me groove and as we all know, groove is in the heart.
I've never pointed this out before, but Britney and I are in fact a mere 3 days apart. Obviously that means that we are the same zodiac signs, so there have been times when I've gone through the same "phase" as her or felt like I understood where she was coming from. I even think I know why she got with Kevin, married Kevin, and divorced Kevin; we don't have all day for me to explain it but I'm spot on - I know it. Even though I knew these things, at the same time these events were taking place she started going to a place. A place where I no longer had understanding or patience.
And now we've hit a point. The head shaving. She's not the first pretty girl to shave her head. There once was a summer where a whole group of people I know shaved their heads because they were in some fiercely emotional play in Austin. I call it the "summer where everyone shaved their heads because they were doing a play in Austin." Now, this business with Britney, I don't know what to call this. "Sad" seems to be popular right now.

I used to own hi-top Reeboks.

And frankly, right now, I wish I had them back. They'd be perfect for my Jazzercise. That's right Jazzercise, a program made for me. In the first moment of my first class, when Christina Aguilera's Ain't No Other Man came on - I knew I was going to like this class. She was followed with other fun dance routines set to Pink, Gwen Stefani, Rob Thomas, and other artist probably well known in gay clubs. So much fun! I didn't really think women all over America were still rock'n out the Jazzercise - but they are and they are having a damn good time doing it!

Ah, lady time.

A wonderful weekend in the country, well not exactly the country, but the Valley was offering beautiful weather all weekend so it might have as well been the country. Major shopping was done, all over town. Chocolate was sought, I can't say I was on that boat but it did allow me to sink my teeth into some tangy delicious key lime pie. And a rarity for anyone, we saw a movie on Friday and Saturday. Now that's a treat! We got our girl on with Music and Lyrics Friday night and Because I Said So Saturday night. Both were a great time, both actually pretty hilarious - especially when you're sitting with your mother, aunts and grandmother and Mandy Moore decides to describe an orgasm to Diane Keaton - you really can't help but have a big belly laugh. And both movies delivered major hotties. I'd have to say it was a yum of a weekend.

This girl

I came into contact with a high school girl today that I have to talk shit on. First of all she looked fabulous. She was in fashion, in season, up to date in style. Maybe she was a little done up because it was Valentine's day at a high school. - We all remember that right? Roses in plastic, huge bunches of balloons, stuffed animals holding mini pillows, and way too much candy. - Anyway, so this girl is strutting the halls in a black dress and black high heel boots - which in the high school built on flip flops and board shorts, it's going to call attention to you.
Then she's in the Communication class I'm subbing where they are writing informative speeches, the topics throughout the day range from gangs, Columbine, teen pregnancy, MLK Jr., Black History Month, hunting, premature babies, etc. What's her informative speech topic? Nicole Richie. Take a moment with that.
Then her name sounds familiar to me and I'm trying to figure out why. Why? Because she's the cheerleader who's well known for running away from home yet telling police she was abducted. This girl.

That's it! It's time to talk about television.

For those of you who don't know, we are in the middle of February sweeps in TV land. It happens three times a year (November, February and May) but February usually packs the most punch. Besides the sweeps factor there just some funny and interesting things going on, at least in my world of TV.

Ellen: She has been speaking on the phone to this seventy year old woman from Austin Texas who absolutely says some of the funniest one liners I've every heard. First she called and left Ellen a message asking her to move the plant behind her head because E looked like Alfalfa and it was distracting. E moved the plant and called her back and they've been talking about once a week ever since. Here's some of her classic one liners:
"Now honey, I love Jesus, but I drink a little."
"Tomato, toma-to, I just call em maters."

Grey's: Come on! A ferry boat rammed into a wall causing mass injuries and death and water squiring every where? And it's a three parter? That's what I call February Sweeps, Lost - you should be taking notes. Last year it was a bomb in a body, this year Meredith got pushed over while trying to save a man and is now currently drowning. I'm loving it and counting down till Thursdays.

General Hospital: Move over lame soaps, this is what I call genius exhilarating television. All our favorite characters are being held hostage in a hotel lobby, and if they're not in there they are trying to get in and save them. The guy they got to play the lead robber is brilliant. First he had them play a game to introduce themselves, which was hilarious, it produced people saying things like: Baby's Breath Elizabeth, Sweet Sam, Job Robin, Screw You Lulu. After the name game was done, he said alright let's get started, so he turned around and shot Job Robin (the girls with HIV.) I went from laughing to gasping in two seconds, it was a great start.
It's been amazing and it's still going. But this past Friday, the citizens of Port Charles started fighting back, half of them are mobsters after all.
Then in the middle of all this we have the great return on Luke Spencer, obviously so he can save the day. Then all of a sudden Scotty Baldwin, Luke's arch rival, show's up. The last time there was a hotel tragedy (a fire to be exact) he made off with tons of money and we haven't seen him since. And he's always suspiciously wearing kiwi green.

Introducing Ms. Ginger Rogers

Reasons why I love my Ginger . . .
I rescued her from a life on the streets
She uses a cat box very well
One of our first days together she got nose to nose with my dog, smelled butts and now they chase each other up the stairs
The following day she got nose to nose again and scared off our neighbor's Doberman
She eats like a real woman and plays like bitch
She sleeps in strange positions, but they are all to do with being all over me
And last night, I swear she kissed me on the cheek
