Do you have a song that once you hear that first note, cold sweats hit the back of your neck, your heart beat takes it up a notch and really your stomach just drops out like you are on a roller coaster? Do ya? Do you know what I am speaking about people?
I have a song. And in no way do I want to give this song or that situation power, but it's like a sensory thing - sound waves hit the ear and I get that 19 year old feeling of daggers in the stomach. When the song comes on I have two reactions, sometimes I sit through it, thinking "someday I won't have this reaction so I'm just going to sit through it and sing along effers!" And sometimes I have a reaction like I did the other day while I was eyeing the earrings at my local Dillards. I'm pretty big into the purchasing of earrings, mostly marked-down sets, there is a great sensation when you get a twenty dollar pair of earrings for $3.50. So, needless to say I am enjoying myself, wasting time at Dillards - and then the song comes on. This is when reaction #2 came in and I was like, "F you Dillards! What? You're gonna play that song? Screw you, I'm getting out of here!!" Ya know, reaction #2 - bolt. And I really was on a rampage to get out of the store, but I got distracted by wallets and I really needed one, so I bought myself a nice leather wallet - because I'm not 19 anymore!

Happiness is back.
After recent losses and upsets (no need to go into them and dwell), life is giving me pleasures and I am happy. Happy that it is Spring. Happy to have a rambunctious little kitten named Ella. Happy to watch aspiring chefs have a cook-off once a week. Happy that things are seemingly well in all my loved ones lives. Happy to create my own destiny in school. Happy the writers are back and I can get some Grey's and the Office in before summer. Happy to be back in my flip-flops, that's a pretty big one.

The joy of a #2 pencil
I love office supply stores, the smell alone puts a pep in my step. I have to go buy white-out, pens and a folder, and I'm ridiculously looking forward to my afternoon. I might buy highlighters just for the fun of it. After all, if you're an actor and you don't have a highlighter . . . shame.
Side note. It's been at least four years, and the secret manifesto mystery has been solved. I love it, it's the Circle of Life.

I'm having a snow day . . . in March?

Small joys people, small joys. And I'll take them. Yesterday was beautiful, dangerous, fun and cozy. Let me explain. It was beautiful when it was first falling, and the entire theatre department walked out to our lobby, which has four foot windows, to see huge flakes of snow covering the campus. It was dangerous when I had to get gas and couldn't drive directly home, it got a little hairy on the road, but I made it. Then it was fun, I made snowballs and threw them off my balcony at the perfectly snow-covered bushes and I watched other people my age make a human-sized snowman. Then cozy set it when everything got cancelled and I got to watch a Netflix I've had in my possession for two weeks. Final forecast: 6-8 inches of joy.
